The Free Prayer Box Ministry
The Free Prayer Box Ministry began in December, 2001, when Molly Saunders placed a homemade prayer box in a Hardee's restaurant in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She just wanted to pray for the individual prayer requests of the customers and the employees of Hardee's.
It wasn't long before Christians who saw the box wanted to put them in other businesses. Molly Saunders began finding volunteers to form assembly line productions to make these homemade prayer boxes and they were placed in over 100 businesses in Knox County, Ohio within 4 months.
Soon Christians from Charleston, West Virginia, caught the vision, and in a
short period of time there were over 200 of the same homemade prayer boxes in the Charleston area!
In June, 2002, some Christian Businessmen saw a bigger vision and contacted Corpad Company, Inc. of Mansfield, Ohio decided to join the Free Prayer Box Ministry by manufacturing boxes that were pre-cut and pre-printed, and to sell them at their cost, significantly less expensive than the homemade ones! It was their idea to get a website, and the web address be printed on the box. This way no matter where the boxes went in the world, people who were interested in getting prayer boxes could find the website and order them directly from the manufacturer!
Less than a year later, God had taken the prayer boxes to nearly every state in the US and the boxes were either in or on their way to 17 other countries!
In May, 2003, Harvest Media Ministry of Tucson, Arizona traveled to Ohio to make a film about the ministry. This is a tool for people to share the vision with their own congregations and with Christian churches of different denominations within their cities. In January, 2004, God had a West coast pastor request Spanish language prayer boxes. Corpad liked the idea, and they made them in Spanish. Now people can go to www.oramosporti.org to find the information and order prayer boxes in Spanish.
In October, 2005, Mark and Ann Russell came to Ohio fom the United Kingdom to meet the Prayer Box Ministry team and visit the Corpad factory, where the prayer boxes are made. After purchasing about 200 prayer boxes, they are working on getting prayer boxes made in the UK. To find out more, go to www.freeprayerbox.co.uk
